Whether you’re a Twitter newbie, lurker, contrarian, or champion – this session will be chock full of easy tips and tricks to learn, connect, and share with your community and educators around the world. From choosing the right user name, creating a profile that packs a punch, graphic designs that grab, to building a powerful global personal learning network – you can master the art of the Tweet!

The presentation provides an in-depth overview of the global social media tool, Twitter. All experiences from the tyro to the seasoned will find something new to start or enhance their journey with this important social media tool. Twitter is a great source of professional development and collaboration to add to your personal learning network. Twitter is also a powerful professional tool to model appropriate and lead by example the ethical use of social media as a guide for your students, parents, fellow educators, and community.

Topics will include:
Carving your place - how to choose the right Twitter name, header, description, validating link, and profile picture. Why protecting your Tweets defeat the PLN purpose. Anatomy of a Tweet. How to follow wisely. How to Tweet with technique or why it takes a conversation and not automatic Re-Tweets to build a network. Why Attribution matters and why Tweeting with images increases activity and followers by 53%. The science behind writing short Tweets and using real words for greater impact. The art of pinning a Tweet and why you should do it every month. How Tweeting generously and paying it forward is an obvious good professional practice. The art of the Live Twitter Chat and how to use the right Hashtags to connect globally. Ethical Tweeting for educators or how to share personal but not private information.
